This is an illustration - and promotional concept art - for my book project called "Ordera". It's about a city at Nezca, a world beneath Ordera's sunny surface. These two worlds share nothing in common, they don't want to or don't believe in each others existance - until circumstances change this situation dramatically. Saraste's the name of former capital city of that dark world, before it was destroyed more than 400 years ago..

The writing is a small section of the book itself and wanted to present some features of the characters involved here. One of them you might already recognize from my earlier paintings :)

Made with combination of scanned old historical photos and painting in Photoshop & Painter. The original size of this work is approx. 5000 x 3700 px in 300dpi/inch, so the screen's size doesn't give the image full potential to show everything well.
